Dozens of African ambassadors and diplomats have visited China's largest vaccine manufacturer in Beijing. Liu Yang has more. 

Ambassadors and senior diplomats from 50 African countries visited China's largest, and the world's fifth human vaccine R & D and manufacturing enterprise – Sinopharm CNBG. The visit aimed to deepen cooperation in the fight against the pandemic and build a better China-Africa health community. The diplomats visited the exhibition center and vaccine production lab and learned about the latest clinical trials of the company's COVID-19 vaccine.

We learned so much that the greatness of China and how China is making this great nation forward, and also making sure that Africa is well and safe so this cooperation I believe can empower Africa, and can strengthen the collaboration."

JAMES KIMONYO Rwanda's Ambassador to China "For us to be here today, visiting CNBG, it's reassuring how the company has committed over period, developing vaccines. Many other diseases have been treated and prevented by using the vaccines developed by this organization. We hope to get the vaccines anytime soon."

Sinopharm is currently carrying out international Phase III clinical trials for a COVID-19 vaccine in ten countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Peru, and Argentina. More than 50- thousand volunteers are taking part in these trials.

LIU YANG Beijing "Back in May, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China will make any COVID-19 vaccine it develops a 'global public good' that is accessible and affordable to developing countries, especially African countries. He said priority must be given to helping African countries with weaker healthcare systems."

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Africa, the Chinese government has provided more than 400 tons of medical supplies to the continent. Nearly two hundred medical experts have also been deployed there to train more than twenty-thousand African medical personnel.
